RACISM AND NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS

We are happy to invite you to No to GMO: Perspectives on Food Security in Africa and the Caribbean. This will be the 13th annual Racism and National Consciousness Conference at the University of Toronto that for over a decade has brought together scholars, students, activists, writers, community and cultural workers on various topics from the perspective of the Global South. With Caribbean Philosopher and World-renowned Dub-Poet Mutabaruka as the main speaker this year it is not something to be missed. Opening remarks will be by Dr. Arnold H. Itwaru and the main speaker will be followed by a panel discussion with Mark Chatarpal and Dr. Filiberto Penados

This will be an informative and stimulating conference focusing on topics such as: Erosion of subsistence farming, Influx of foreign Large Scale Agriculture companies, the impact of pesticide use, the politics associated with GMO-industries, Seed Rights and Patenting Laws.

This event will be completely free of charge and open to the public. Lunch will be provided (vegetarian and halal options available).

For those who are overseas, we will be ustreaming this event. Here is your chance to pose questions to Mutabaruka and the panel. We will be posting the ustream link on the 24th of October.
